Brookhaven College EMT Paramedic Program

Brookhaven College has an EMT paramedic training program that offers students the necessary courses for certification at the EMT-Basic level on through to paramedic. The college is located at 3939 Valley View Lane in Farmers Branch, Texas and is part of the community college network in the Dallas area. The main campus is just off interstate 635 and is near the Brookhaven Country Club.

Program Information

Brookhaven College offers an associate in applied sciences degree in para medicine and a para medicine certificate program. The El Centro location offers a certificate program. The EMT training certificate program takes approximately six and a half months to complete. The EMT courses in the program include classroom instruction, rotations in hospitals, with experience in the emergency room department, as well as field work in an ambulance. Courses are typically day classes with some clinicals on the weekends. The clinical portion of the course will require students to be available to work most shifts within a 24-hour period.

Program Prerequisites

Admission requirements for the college’s EMS education include a high school diploma or equivalent, achieve passing scores on both reading and mathematics assessment examinations, complete a hepatitis B vaccination series, proof of immunizations and complete the entire application packet. Once accepted into the program, CPR Certification, a criminal background check, and drug screen will be required, as well as producing a Social Security card and Proof of Liability insurance for one calendar year (cost not included in tuition).

To begin the application process for the school’s paramedic program enrollment students must provide proof of National Registry EMT-Basic or EMT-Intermediate certification, AND/OR State of Texas-certification for EMT-B or EMT-I in order to proceed with enrollment into the Program.
