The Cuyahoga Community College EMT paramedic training program offers students the necessary courses for certification at the highest level of paramedic. A paramedic training certificate program and an Associate of Applied Science in Paramedical degree is offered through Cuyahoga Community College. The college also offers Fire training and EMS certification. These programs meet the standards set forth by the U.S. Department of Transportation National Standard Training and the Ohio Department Public Safety Division of Emergency Medical Services.
Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C) is a 2-year public school located in downtown Cleveland, Ohio at 700 Carnegie Ave. The school consists of a main campus and four outlying education centers. Ohio EMT training at CCC takes place on three campuses; the Eastern, Western and Westshore Campus.
Program Information
The Cuyahoga Community College EMT certificate program is a one year program. Anatomy and physiology, principles of microbiology, theory of patient assessment, management and operations assessment, theory of paramedic essentials to include airway management and ventilation, medical, OB/GYN, neonatal, behavior and trauma emergencies, and emergency medical services operations are just some of the courses.
Cuyahoga Community College’s 2-year associate program awards students who successfully complete the program an Associate of Applied Science in Emergency Medical Technology degree. This paramedic training program includes both didactic and clinical skill experiences. The paramedic training program provides high excellence for education in the ability and science of pre-hospital advanced life support EMS care.
Students completing the paramedic training AAS degree program may also take the University of Baltimore Critical Care Paramedic Certification Exam and the Flight Paramedic Certified Exam. In addition, graduates of the 2 year paramedic program may also qualify for transfer to a school offering a 4-year paramedic degree program.
Once the education program is completed, you will be qualified to take the Ohio’s paramedic certification exam and the National Registry Emergency Medical Technician Examination (NREMT).

• 18 yrs. of age, or 17 yrs. of age and a high school senior
• Eligibility for ENG 0990
• Eligibility for MATH 0950
• Health Careers Application and EMT Program application
• must pass a background check
• must have current immunization records
• must pass drug screening - and stay drug free
Paramedic Program Prerequisites
In addition to prerequisites listed above an individual will need:
• State of Ohio EMT-Basic or EMT Intermediate Certification
• Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider Certification
• Eligibility for ENG 1010
• Eligibility for MATH 0980
• BIO 2331/2341 or EMT 1400
Application Process
Individuals interested in Cuyahoga Community College may register and apply online, or in person. An application can be picked up and returned to any of the education campuses, or accessed online. Online applications take approximately 5-7 business days to complete. After completing the application process you will next meet with an advisor who can assist you in a degree plan, and paramedic training course schedules. Following the advisor placement plan, you will need to take placement exams. One those exams are completed you will be able to plan your class scheduling. An email address is required for all students who are entering the EMT course programs.
