The Athens Technical College EMT paramedic training program offers EMT training students the necessary courses for certification at the highest level of EMT paramedic.
The Clark County Career center where EMT training courses for the program take place is located at 800 Hwy 29 N in Athens, Georgia. Athens Technical College is just down the road from this location. Both locations are just off the highway. Burke Lake sits just down the highway from the Clark County Career Center.
Program Information
Athens Technical College offers both an associate degree program and a diploma program for those interested in an EMT paramedic program and becoming a paramedic. EMT education course work is detailed and includes: anatomy and physiology, principles of microbiology, theory of patient assessment, management and operations assessment, theory of paramedic essentials to include airway management and ventilation, medical, OB/GYN, neonatal, behavior and trauma emergencies, and emergency medical services operations.
Program Prerequisites
For admission into the paramedic program students must have a valid EMT Intermediate license. For consideration students must submit the following by the September 1st deadline:
- Application for admission and application fee
- Official transcripts from high school and college
- Completed intent form
- Valid test scores from either COMPASS, SAT, ACT, or ASSET
- Copy of EMT license
- Proof of completion of all required general course work with a grade of a C or better
Applicants will be required to attend a mandatory orientation. If you do not attend this orientation you will forfeit your spot in the paramedic education program. Upon acceptance into the program students must provide the following information:
- FERPA form
- Immunization form
- Copy of Drivers license
- Copy of valid CPR card
- Criminal Background Check.
