Pennsylvania Highlands Community College Paramedic School

Pennsylvania Highlands Community College is located in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. The school is located on Highfield Avenue, which sits between the river divide. The campus is easy to reach off the Johnstown expressway and Stackhouse Park is located nearby.

Program Schedule

The college offers an Associate of Applied Science Degree for the paramedic health profession. The program consists of 400 hours in the classroom, 100 hours of time in the laboratory, and 500 clinical hours. The program is offered as a partnership with the Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital. The college provides the classroom instruction. The clinical and field experience is done through the hospital. Students will complete 61 credit hours to finish the degree. Upon completion of the degree students will be eligible to sit for the national registry examination.

Program Prerequisites

Students that wish to enroll in the paramedic program offered through the college will need to possess current certification as an Emergency Medical Technician in the state of Pennsylvania. Current certification in CPR at the health care provider level is also required. Students must also be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED. To successfully complete the program students must be accepted into the Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital paramedic diploma program. Students must pass the comprehensive final examination as given by the hospital in order to receive their diploma.
