The Florida Medical Training Institute offers 5 different campuses to choose from. The campus in Broward County is located at 4400 West Sample Road in Coconut Creek. The campus in Brevard county is located at 478 Ballard Drive in Melbourne. The campus in Orange County is located at 5575 S. Semoran Boulevard, in Orlando. The Miami-Dade County campus is located at 7902 NW 36th Street in Miami. The Hillsborough County campus is located at 3611 West Hillsborough Avenue in Tampa.
The paramedic programs offered through the Florida Medical Training Institute are broken down as follows:
- 512 hours of classroom instruction. The hours are broken into two parts, Paramedic 1 consists of 234 hours of lectures and labs and Paramedic 2 consists of 278 hours of lectures and labs.
- The third portion of the course is a hospital internship, which consists of 200 hours of hospital clinicals.
- The final portion of the course is a field internship/externship. This portion is 400 hours, which are completed on an ALS permitted vehicle.
Students that wish to enter the paramedic program at one of the training institutes must currently be certified as an EMT basic in the state of Florida. A high school diploma or GED is required and some programs have other entrance requirements as well.
Students may be expected to complete a drug screening and criminal background check before entering the clinical portion of the program.
