Emergency Training Resources (ETR), a member of Western Connecticut Health Network, is the premier EMS training agency in Greater Danbury area. Formed in 1999, ETR offers initial and continuing education for public safety and health care professionals. Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) training will provide you with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that are required to be an important part of the emergency health care system. ETR offers hospital-based and on-site programs for all levels of EMS, pre-hospital emergency care and intervention including: CPR, First Aid, EMR and EMT training, Advanced Continuing Education Programs, and Work Place Health and Safety Training Courses.
EMS courses include:
First Responders (EMR): This training consists of approximately 80 hours dedicated to learning and teaches the student to be skilled in providing basic emergency care until Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrives. CPR, first aid skills, and scene safety, etc. compile a total of 80 contact hours and training. 2014 Cost/Fee: $200. Payment must be submitted during the first week of the program.
Completion of the ETR EMT-Basic course qualifies you to take the National Registry exams to receive your Connecticut and National EMT-B certification. This is a necessary course to take in order to begin training in Emergency Medical Services as either a volunteer or paid EMS provider.
EMT Basic: The courses run approximately 12 weeks. Once competed, you will be qualified to address life-threatening conditions that might include such incidents as: airway problems, cardiac arrest, severe bleeding, shock, stabilize non-life-threatening situations, and application of special skills such as emergency driving and record keeping.
This ETR emergency services training course program exceeds the requirements for the state of Connecticut and National EMS curricula. You will partner with the Danbury Hospital Emergency Department, and work on ambulances with experienced EMTs and Paramedics. The duration is 150 contact hours, taking place over three months, and includes a clinical rotation in an ambulance.

Basic Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Bridge Course:
Completion of the EMT-Basic bridge course qualifies you to take the National Registry exams to receive your Connecticut and National EMT-B certification. This EMT Bridge Course exceeds the requirements for the state of Connecticut and National EMS curricula. To qualify for the EMT/EMS Bridge course, students must possess a current State of Connecticut Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) certificate. The duration of the course takes place over three months, and includes a clinical rotation in an ambulance.
2014 Cost/fee: $400.
EMT Paramedic: This training includes knowledge in pre-hospital emergency care principles such as airway management, pharmacology, and cardiac monitoring, and advanced life-saving care skills. To qualify for ETR Paramedic Training education you must possess a current State of Connecticut Emergency Medical Technician certificate.
All fees for all EMS courses are payable by check, money order, credit card, municipal purchase orders.
