Galveston College EMT Paramedic Program

Galveston College has an EMT paramedic training program that offers EMT training students the necessary courses for certification at the EMT-Basic level on through to EMT paramedic.

Galveston College offers a beautiful campus in Galveston, Texas. Portions of the campus are on Pelican Island and the city of Galveston is surrounded by water. The college offers an associate of science degree program as well as a certificate program for paramedics.

Program Schedule

The EMT paramedic training program offered through Galveston College is 52 credit hours, which take place in 5 semesters. The course begins in the fall and runs through the summer. Students can expect classroom lectures, clinicals, and EMT training field experience.

Program Prerequisites

Students interested in the EMT paramedic training program will first need to meet the requirements for admission into the college. Admission into Galveston does not guarantee a spot in the paramedic program. Program checklists are available through the admissions office. This includes a degree plan through the counseling office. The EMT paramedic degree plan must include a grade of “C” or better in introductory algebra or a passing placement score, a grade of “C” or better in anatomy and physiology, within five years of being accepted into the program, and medical terminology course must be taken prior to entrance into the EMT paramedic program as well.

EMT training school graduates fill a vital role in the community and the EMT paramedic courses require healthy candidates. Students must have a completed physical examination, TB test, Immunizations, including a Hepatitis B series, and must have certification through the American Heart Health Care. A complete background check and drug screening through the college, paid for by the student, is also required.
