National Polytechnic College of Science EMT Paramedic Program
Monday, January 2nd, 2012The National Polytechnic College of Science has an EMT paramedic training program that offers EMT training students the necessary courses for certification at the EMT-Basic level on through to EMT paramedic.
The National Polytechnic College of Science offers two campus locations; the Merced campus is located just of Yosemite Avenue in Merced, California. The San Jose campus is located on Tisch Way in San Jose, California. EMT Paramedic training courses are available at the San Jose campus.
Program Schedule
For individuals that are interested in the EMT training and EMT paramedic programs and have questions, the San Jose campus holds informational sessions every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 am to 4 pm. These sessions give prospective students the chance to ask any questions about the program that they may have.
The EMT training program course consists of 76 clock hours of preparatory classes, 8 hours of airway management and ventilation, 31 hours of patient assessment and history taking, 38 hours of trauma, 91 hours medical, 24 hours pediatrics, 21 hours operations, 165 hours skills labs, 26 hours specialty labs, 160 hours clinical, and 480 hours EMT paramedic field internship.
Program Prerequisites
In order to be eligible for the paramedic school program, students must have a current EMT-I or EMT-B certificate with the appropriate licensure. In addition, students must have completed an anatomy and physiology course, through either WestMed or an approved higher education program.
Students of the paramedic training program must be at least 18 years old, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and proof of identification. Prospective EMT students may not have any felony convictions and a drug screening and background check may be required.
