Coosa Valley Technical College EMT Paramedic Program

The Coosa Valley Technical College EMT paramedic training program offers EMT training students the necessary courses for certification at the highest level of EMT paramedic.

Coosa Valley Technical College is located at One Maurice Culberson Drive, Rome, Georgia. The campus is easily accessible from Martha Berry Hwy, which is also highway 53. The campus sits just off Cedar Avenue and near Hemlock Street. Floyd County Technical High School is located just down the road from the campus.

EMT and Paramedic Program Information

The EMT paramedic training program offered by Coosa Valley Technical College prepares students for employment in paramedic positions in the state of Georgia. The EMT training courses provides opportunities to advance from the EMT/EMT-I 1985/AEMT levels to an EMT paramedic level. Successful completion of the program allows the graduate to apply to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) Paramedic certification examination and apply for Georgia licensure with the State Office of Emergency Medical Service and Trauma (SOEMST) as a paramedic.

The EMT training program is 5 quarters in length and students may enter the program at the start of any quarter for their pre-occupational curriculum. The occupational curriculum begins in the spring quarter only.

Program Prerequisites

In order to enter the paramedic training program students must be at least 17 years old and be 18 years old before starting any of the occupational program curricula. Students must have a high school diploma or GED and be a certified EMT. Minimum test scores in writing, reading, and math are required on either the ASSET or COMPASS tests.

Before entering the clinical portion of the course students may be required to submit a criminal background check, drug test, and physical examination along with immunization records.
