Albany Technical College EMT Paramedic Program

Albany Technical College has an EMT paramedic training program that offers EMT training students the necessary courses for certification at the EMT-Basic level on through to EMT paramedic.

Albany Technical College is located in Albany, Georgia at 1704 Slappey Boulevard. The location of the college is near the Georgia state government building. Just down the road from the college is Southside Middle School. The school can be reached off highway 234 or from highway 91.

Program Schedule

The EMT paramedic program offered through Albany Technical College is a program in which students can begin with EMT training certification and advance to earn an EMT Paramedic Technology degree upon completion. Students may begin taking their EMT training core curriculum classes during any semester. However, the EMT training Advanced Program begins in the fall and the paramedic program courses begin in the spring.

Program Prerequisites

In order to be considered for the EMT paramedic technology degree program offered by Albany Technical College students must have a high school diploma or GED and be at least 18 years old. Prospective paramedic students must have minimum test scores in the following (to be considered): ASSET – writing 42, reading 42, math 42, algebra 42 or COMPASS – writing 62, reading 81, math 50, and algebra 37.

Additionally, students continuing on into the EMT paramedic program must be current on their health care provider CPR certification, be certified with the state of Georgia as an EMT basic, and have a valid Georgia driver’s license. Students will also be required to provide a physical examination, criminal background check, drug test, immunization records, dental examination, and a PPD.
