NY Methodist Hospital Paramedic Program

The NY Methodist Hospital EMT and paramedic training program offers students the necessary courses for certification at the highest level of paramedic. The paramedic program is accredited with the standards set by the state of New York for EMS certification.

The NY Methodist Hospital is located at the corner of Kings Highway and East 14th street in Brooklyn. The hospital can easily be reached by car or mass transit. There are two parking garages that are located near the building. The administration office for the program is located on the second floor.

 

Program Information

The New York Methodist Hospital paramedic program has two start dates, one in February, and the other in September. The course is an EMT training certificate program that takes a year to complete. Classes meet two days a week, either Tuesday and Thursday or Monday and Wednesday from 9 am to 5 pm. These class schedules are subject to change.

Program Prerequisites

To qualify for the paramedic program the following requirements must be met:

 

1. Age 18 or over
2. Have high school diploma or GED
3. Current EMT certification in the state of New York
4. 6 months experience as an EMT

The application process requires students interested in EMT courses to complete the program application, including all reference letters and high school and college transcripts. A confirmation letter will be sent to you within two weeks of receiving your application, including request for an application fee. A date will be assigned for students to come in and take the entrance examination. If the entrance examinations are passed, an interview will be scheduled with the entrance committee. You can expect notification of acceptance into the program within four weeks of your interview.
