Pasco-Hernando Community College is located in New Port Richey, Florida at 10230 Ridge Road. Ridge Road is also County Road 587A. Hidden Lake and the Hidden Lake Project are located near the campus. Pasco-Hernando Community College offers an associates degree in Emergency Medical Services. The degree requires 73 credit hours to complete. During the sophomore year of the program students that wish to continue on the paramedic track will have to be approved for the program by the Admissions Committee for Special Programs.
Students may begin taking courses during the spring, summer, or fall sessions, but will not be allowed to take the paramedic courses until the previous courses are completed.
The paramedic program requires students to have a valid placement score on the SAT/ACT/FCELPT examinations. Additional requirements and paperwork that must be submitted for the program include:
- Application and $25 nonrefundable application fee
- Official High School and College Transcripts
- Copy of current EMT license from the state of Florida
- Placement test scores
- Completed Medical Terminology course with a grade of C or better
- GPA of 2.0 or higher
Once enrolled in the paramedic program students may need to submit a criminal background check and a drug screening before clinical rotations can begin.
