NSLIJ - Center for Learning & Innovation EMS Program

The North Shore Long Island Jewish Center for Learning and Innovation is located n Lake Success, New York at 1979 Marcus Avenue. The location is near several stores, including a Bed Bath and Beyond and a Starbucks. Clinton G. Martin Park is located a couple of blocks away from the building.

Program Schedule

The paramedic program offered by NSLIG is an extensive 14 month program. Classes typically take place three nights a week from 6 to 10 pm. Classes are conducted at the Center for Learning and Innovation that is located in Lake Success.

The classroom portion of the course includes 560 hours of lectures, laboratory and simulation practice. The second part of the course is 330 hours of clinical rotations that take place in all areas of the North Shore - LIJ Health System. The third phase of the paramedic course is a field internship. Students must complete no less than 300 hours in the field as an intern.

The cost of the program is $7,000, which includes books, ACLS, BCLS, PHTLS, and PALS.

Program Prerequisites

In order to be considered for the paramedic program that is offered by NSLIG, students must meet the following prerequisites:

  • Current Certification as an EMT basic in New York
  • 6 months experience as an EMT (work or volunteer)
  • Successful scores on the pretests required by the program. The pretests include: basic EMT knowledge, reading comprehension and mathematics.
  • Anatomy and physiology
  • Completed course application and a $100 non refundable application fee.
