Luzerne County Community College

Luzerne County Community College is located in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania. The college’s address is 1333 S. Prospect Street. The campus can be reached off Middle Road or from E State Street. The Mercy Special Care Hospital is located a few blocks away.

Program Schedule

The paramedic course offered through Luzerne County Community College is a certificate course that provides students with the necessary training needed to pass the national practical and written certification examinations. The purpose of the course is to teach advanced life support techniques while operating in a street environment either as ambulance personnel, in a mobile intensive care unit, or on a life flight helicopter.

 

The paramedic course consists of 31 credit hours that are completed over the course of three semesters. The cost per credit hour for in county residents and out of county residents taking courses off campus is $84. The cost per credit hour for out of county residents is $168 and $252 for out of state residents.

Program Prerequisites

In order to be accepted into the paramedic program, students must first be accepted into the college. Prospective students must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED. Once accepted into the college additional requirements for the paramedic program include current CPR certification at the health care provider level and certification as an EMT basic.
