Valdosta Technical College EMT Paramedic Program
Valdosta Technical College has an EMT paramedic training program that offers EMT training students the necessary courses for certification at the EMT-Basic level on through to EMT paramedic.
Valdosta Technical College is located in Valdosta, Georgia at 4089 Valtech Road. The campus can be reached from highway 133, which is also called St. Augustine Road. Highway 133 is accessible from Interstate 75. The campus of the college sits between the Lowndes Correctional Institute and the Valdosta Correctional Institute.
Program Schedule
The EMT paramedic training program offered through Valdosta Technical College prepares students for a position as a paramedic in the health services field. The program offers a way to upgrade the skills obtained as an EMT Basic to an EMT Paramedic. Upon completion of the EMT training program students are eligible to take the national registry examination and apply for state licensing in Georgia.
Program Prerequisites
Students that wish to apply for the paramedic program offered through the college must meet the following requirements:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Submit a completed application with fee
- Submit high school transcripts and college transcripts if applicable
- Submit scores from either SAT, ACT, or CPE taken within the past 5 years or COMPASS or ASSET scores completed in the past 5 years. Scores must be at an acceptable level.
- Submit proof of EMT certification
- Submit proof of CPR certification at the health care provider level.
In addition, students that are accepted into the EMT paramedic training program will be required to submit to a criminal background check and a drug screen before they will be eligible to complete any of the required clinical experiences.
