The Emergency Medical Science Academy is located in Plantation, Florida at 600 North Pine Island Road. Cleary Boulevard intersects with North Pine Island Road and is a few blocks from the academy. The Westside Regional Medical Center is located nearby as well.
Program Schedule
The Paramedic training program that is offered through the Emergency Medical Science Academy takes approximately 11 months to complete. The course is offered both during the day and at night. The day class runs two days a week from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm. The night classes run two days a week from 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm. Both day and night classes include skill labs and lectures.
Registration for the winter course begins in October and classes start in February. Summer registration begins in January and classes begin in July. Fall registration begins in February and classes begin in September.
Tuition cost for in state residents is $1606. The tuition for out of state residents is $7,228. The cost of books is roughly $300. There is a $100 registration fee and a $50 application fee as well. Uniforms cost $50 and an ID badge is $10.
The total estimated cost for in state residents is $2315 and the total estimated cost for out of state residents is $8502.
Program Prerequisites
In order to be eligible for the paramedic program offered through the academy students must be certified as an EMT-basic in the state of Florida.
Before entering the program students may be required to submit to a criminal background check and a drug screening.
