Central Texas College Paramedic Training School

Central Texas College has their main campus in Killeen, Texas, but offers other campuses throughout the state at military bases. The school also has several online courses available for prospective students that need a more flexible class schedule. Central Texas College offers a certificate program and an associate degree program for those interested in becoming a paramedic.

Program Information

The paramedic certificate course is 33 credit hours and will take approximately two years to complete, depending on the amount of classes a student chooses to take. Prospective students will need to apply for and be admitted into the college before being accepted into the EMT paramedic training school.

As of 2011, the cost per credit hour for paramedic training students in the district is $59. The cost for students out of district is $76 and for non-residents of Texas and international students, the cost is $200 per credit hour.

* The Optimal Application Deadline for Advanced EMT – Paramedic:

Financial aid is available for those that qualify.

Program Prerequisites

Students must have proof of EMS certification of EMT-basic and CPR at the health care provider level before enrollment in the course. Additionally, students must show proof of vaccinations. Students will have to complete the Hepatitis B vaccination series prior to enrollment as well. All health care program students must provide their social security number in order to submit to a background check. The background check is required for students before they begin their clinical rotations in the program. Paramedic training students must also submit to a physical exam provide results of an 11 panel drug screen, both within 6 months prior to course start date of the program, and within 6 months of course staring.

EMT-Basic prerequisites include testing sufficiently of Math, Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary/General Knowledge, and Personality profile/Learning styles.

Advanced EMT/Paramedic prerequisites include, of Math, Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary/General Knowledge, Personality profile/Learning styles, and Grammar.
